  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
  3. Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onion is translucent.
  4. Add diced tomatoes and cook until soft.
  5. Add lentils, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well.
  6. Add water and bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes until lentils are tender.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
