  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add melted butter and granulated sugar, and mix until combined. Crack in the eggs and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using, and mix gently.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper. Cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
