Description
Banana Brownies are a moist, chocolatey treat with the natural sweetness of ripe bananas. A twist on traditional brownies, perfect for banana and chocolate lovers.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup melted butter (or coconut oil)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add melted butter and granulated sugar, and mix until combined. Crack in the eggs and stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using, and mix gently.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper. Cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Substitute coconut oil for butter for a dairy-free option.
- Use brown sugar for a richer flavor.
- Replace all-purpose flour with whole wheat or almond flour for a healthier twist.
- For a lower-calorie version, replace butter with unsweetened applesauce.
