Description
Birria Tacos are a flavorful Mexican dish made with tender, slow-cooked meat and served in corn tortillas.
Ingredients

- 2 lbs beef chuck roast
- 1 lb lamb shoulder
- 4 dried guajillo peppers
- 2 dried ancho peppers
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp oregano
- 4 cups beef broth
- Salt to taste
- Corn tortillas
- Chopped cilantro
- Diced onion
- Lime wedges
Instructions
- Remove stems and seeds from dried peppers.
- Toast peppers in a dry skillet until fragrant.
- Blend toasted peppers with garlic, onion, cumin, oregano, and beef broth until smooth.
- In a large pot, add beef and lamb. Pour the blended sauce over the meat.
- Cook on low heat for 3-4 hours until the meat is tender.
- Shred the meat and return it to the pot to soak in the sauce.
- Warm corn tortillas on a skillet.
- Fill tortillas with the meat mixture and garnish with cilantro, onion, and lime.
Notes
- Adjust spice level by using more or fewer peppers.
- For extra flavor, marinate the meat overnight.
- Serve with a side of consomé for dipping.
