Description
A delightful pasta dish combining Cajun flavors with creamy sauce, featuring blackened shrimp and cavatappi pasta.
Ingredients
- Cavatappi pasta: 8 oz (about 225 g)
- Shrimp: 1 lb (about 450 g), peeled and deveined
- Cajun seasoning: 2 tablespoons
- Garlic: 3 cloves, minced
- Butter: 4 tablespoons (divided)
- Heavy cream: 1 cup (about 240 ml)
- Parmesan cheese: 1 cup, grated
- Green onions: 2, sliced
- Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
- Salt and pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Cook the cavatappi pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water.
- Toss shrimp with Cajun seasoning. In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until blackened and cooked through. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat, add remaining butter and minced garlic, sauté for 30 seconds. Add cooked cavatappi and shrimp, toss to combine.
- Pour in heavy cream, bring to a simmer, stir in Parmesan cheese until smooth. Adjust sauce consistency with reserved pasta water if needed. Add lemon juice, season with salt and pepper, garnish with green onions, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh or thawed frozen shrimp for best results.
- Adjust spice levels according to your preference.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Reheat gently in a skillet, adding cream or pasta water to loosen the sauce.
