Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour and salt. Knead the dough until smooth.
  3. Cover and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Divide dough into small pieces. Flatten each piece and place a cube of cheese inside.
  6. Shape the dough around the cheese and roll into a ball.
  7. Boil water and baking soda in a pot.
  8. Boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds. Remove and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
