A delicious fusion of cheeseburgers and quesadillas, this recipe features seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and customizable toppings, all wrapped in a crispy tortilla.
Ingredients
- Flour tortillas: 4 large tortillas
- Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
- Cheddar cheese: 2 cups shredded
- Diced onions: 1/2 cup
- Pickles: 1/4 cup chopped
- Ketchup: 1/4 cup
- Mustard: 2 tablespoons
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper: to taste
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned.
- Drain excess fat and set the beef aside.
- In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and sauté the diced onions for 3-4 minutes until soft.
- Mix the cooked ground beef back into the skillet with the onions.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and place one flour tortilla in it.
- On one half of the tortilla, spread the beef and onion mixture, then sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Fold the tortilla over to cover the filling.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until crispy and cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, let cool for a minute, slice into wedges, and serve warm with ketchup and mustard on the side.
Notes
- Feel free to customize with optional ingredients like garlic powder, paprika, jalapeños, or different cheeses.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils.
- For a spicy version, add jalapeños or use spicy ground beef.
