Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  4. Sprinkle half of the garlic, salt, and pepper over the potatoes.
  5. Add half of the cheddar and Gruyere cheeses.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheeses.
  7. Pour heavy cream over the layered potatoes.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

  • Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Use a mandoline for uniform potato slices.
