Ingredients

- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter, for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
- Sprinkle half of the garlic, salt, and pepper over the potatoes.
- Add half of the cheddar and Gruyere cheeses.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, garlic, salt, pepper, and cheeses.
- Pour heavy cream over the layered potatoes.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Notes
- Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving.
- Use a mandoline for uniform potato slices.
- Experiment with different cheese combinations.
