- 4 chicken thighs, skin-on and bone-in
- 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced (red or yellow)
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1–2 tablespoons tomato paste (optional)
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1–2 bay leaves (optional)
- Chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken thighs dry and season with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and bell pepper until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Push the vegetables aside, add the chicken thighs skin-side down, and brown for 5-7 minutes.
- Flip the chicken, cook for another 5 minutes, then sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir.
- Add remaining paprika and chicken broth, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 30-35 minutes.
- Stir in sour cream, adjust seasoning, and serve.

- For a vegetarian version, substitute chicken with hearty vegetables and use vegetable broth.
