  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (red or yellow)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • 12 tablespoons tomato paste (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds (optional)
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 12 bay leaves (optional)
  • Chili flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry and season with salt, pepper, and 1 tablespoon of sweet paprika.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and sauté the onion and bell pepper until softened.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Push the vegetables aside, add the chicken thighs skin-side down, and brown for 5-7 minutes.
  5. Flip the chicken, cook for another 5 minutes, then sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir.
  6. Add remaining paprika and chicken broth, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Stir in sour cream, adjust seasoning, and serve.
