Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour (for cookie dough)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cookie dough)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in boiling water until well combined.
  5. Pour batter into greased cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Check with a toothpick.
  7. Let cakes cool completely.
  8. For the cookie dough, beat butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  9. Add flour and vanilla, mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.
  10. Layer cookie dough between cake layers.
  11. Frost the cake with your favorite chocolate frosting.
