Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Red and green food coloring
  • 1 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring.
  4. Cook until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  5. Remove from heat and add peppermint extract and food coloring.
  6. Pour onto a greased baking sheet.
  7. Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top.
  8. Allow to cool and break into pieces.
