A classic Christmas roast turkey recipe for festive gatherings.

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 cups stuffing of your choice
- 4 cups turkey or chicken broth
- 1 onion, quartered
- 2 carrots, cut into chunks
- 2 celery stalks, cut into chunks
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season with salt and pepper inside and out.
- Stuff the turkey with your choice of stuffing.
- Place onion, carrots, and celery in the roasting pan.
- Put the turkey on top of the vegetables.
- Pour broth into the pan.
- Cover the turkey loosely with foil.
- Roast for about 3 to 3.5 hours, removing the foil in the last hour for browning.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Brine the turkey overnight for extra flavor.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
- Adjust cooking time based on turkey weight.
