Description
A classic beef lasagna recipe made with layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheese.
Ingredients
- Lasagna noodles – 12 sheets
- Ground beef – 1 pound
- Onion – 1 medium, chopped
- Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
- Tomato sauce – 28 ounces
- Crushed tomatoes – 14 ounces
- Ricotta cheese – 15 ounces
- Mozzarella cheese – 2 cups, shredded
- Parmesan cheese – 1 cup, grated
- Egg – 1 large
- Italian seasoning – 2 teaspoons
- Salt – 1 teaspoon
- Pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion and minced garlic.
- Add tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
- Add a layer of noodles, followed by ricotta mixture and mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella on top.
- Sprinkle remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 45 minutes. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
- Letting the lasagna sit before cutting helps it hold its shape.
- Make it ahead and refrigerate overnight for better flavor.
