A rich and creamy holiday beverage.
Ingredients

- 4 large eggs
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup bourbon or rum
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs until they are well combined.
- Add granulated sugar and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk and cream over medium heat until warm.
- Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in bourbon or rum, vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve in glasses and garnish with additional nutmeg if desired.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon or rum.
- Can be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
