Description

Pecan pie is a rich Southern classic with a sweet, gooey filling and crunchy pecans. Perfect for holidays and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked homemade pie crust
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup salted butter (softened or melted)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves

Instructions

  1. Prepare your pie crust by rolling it out and placing it in a pie plate. Chill the crust in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Add in corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  3. Stir in the pecans, reserving some for the top. Fold them into the mixture gently.
  4. Pour the filling into the chilled pie crust and arrange the reserved pecans on top. Bake at 425°F for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F and bake for another 50 minutes, until set.
  5. Cool the pie completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake the pie—keep an eye on it and reduce the temperature as needed.
  • Chill the crust for at least 30 minutes to prevent shrinking.
  • If using store-bought crust, follow package instructions for preparation.
