Description
Pecan pie is a rich Southern classic with a sweet, gooey filling and crunchy pecans. Perfect for holidays and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 unbaked homemade pie crust
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup salted butter (softened or melted)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves
Instructions
- Prepare your pie crust by rolling it out and placing it in a pie plate. Chill the crust in the fridge for 30 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Add in corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Stir in the pecans, reserving some for the top. Fold them into the mixture gently.
- Pour the filling into the chilled pie crust and arrange the reserved pecans on top. Bake at 425°F for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F and bake for another 50 minutes, until set.
- Cool the pie completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Don’t overbake the pie—keep an eye on it and reduce the temperature as needed.
- Chill the crust for at least 30 minutes to prevent shrinking.
- If using store-bought crust, follow package instructions for preparation.
