Description
Steel cut oats are whole grain oats that are minimally processed. They have a chewy texture and nutty flavor.
Ingredients

- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 4 cups water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: Milk or plant-based milk for serving
- Optional: Honey or maple syrup for sweetness
- Optional: Fresh fruit or nuts for topping
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
- Add 1 cup of steel cut oats and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
- Stir occasionally until the oats are tender and have absorbed most of the water.
- Remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes.
- Serve warm with milk, sweeteners, and toppings as desired.
Notes
- For creamier oats, cook longer and add more water.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Reheat with a little water or milk to loosen the texture.
