  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in molasses.
  6. In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the molasses mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
  8. Mix until just combined.
  9. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  10. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let cool before serving.
