Description
A moist and sweet loaf cake made with treacle and flavored with warm spices.
Ingredients

- 200g plain flour
- 100g brown sugar
- 100g treacle
- 50g butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 150ml milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Grease a loaf tin.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
- Add eggs and treacle to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, stirring until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf tin.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
- Let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container.
- Tastes better after a day as flavors develop.
- Can be served with butter or cream.
