Description

A moist and sweet loaf cake made with treacle and flavored with warm spices.


Ingredients

  • 200g plain flour
  • 100g brown sugar
  • 100g treacle
  • 50g butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 150ml milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease a loaf tin.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, spices, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
  5. Add eggs and treacle to the butter mixture and mix well.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, stirring until combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf tin.
  8. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
  9. Let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
