- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Fold in the diced apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake is cooling, prepare the custard sauce by whisking together the cream, maple syrup, and ground ginger in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook until slightly thickened, then remove from heat.
- Serve the cake warm with the custard sauce drizzled on top.
Notes
- Use tart apples for better flavor.
- Adjust the amount of ginger to taste.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
