  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Fold in the diced apples.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  10. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. While the cake is cooling, prepare the custard sauce by whisking together the cream, maple syrup, and ground ginger in a saucepan over medium heat.
  12. Cook until slightly thickened, then remove from heat.
  13. Serve the cake warm with the custard sauce drizzled on top.
