- 2 lbs potatoes
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg

- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and boil the potatoes until tender.
- Drain and let them cool slightly.
- Mash the potatoes until smooth.
- Add flour, egg, salt, and nutmeg to the potatoes.
- Knead the mixture until well combined.
- Form the dough into balls.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
- Drop the dumplings into the boiling water.
- Cook until they float, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove and serve with butter or gravy.
Notes
- Use starchy potatoes for best results.
- Make sure the potatoes are dry before mashing.
- You can add herbs for extra flavor.
