Ingredients
- Ground chicken: 1 lb (450 g)
- Feta cheese: 1/2 cup, crumbled (about 75 g)
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh oregano: 2 tablespoons, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried oregano)
- Red onion: 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Breadcrumbs: 1/2 cup (about 50 g)
- Olive oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
- Salt: 1 teaspoon (to taste)
- Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (to taste)
- Whole wheat buns: 4 (for serving)
- Tzatziki sauce: for drizzling (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, crumbled feta cheese, minced garlic, chopped oregano, finely chopped red onion, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly distributed.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a round patty, about 1 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes until fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
- Toast the whole wheat buns in a separate skillet or on a grill for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, drizzling with tzatziki sauce, and topping with the other half of the bun.
