  • Red onion: 1/4 cup, finely chopped
  • Breadcrumbs: 1/2 cup (about 50 g)
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons (for cooking)
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon (to taste)
  • Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (to taste)
  • Whole wheat buns: 4 (for serving)
  • Tzatziki sauce: for drizzling (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, crumbled feta cheese, minced garlic, chopped oregano, finely chopped red onion, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Mix until evenly distributed.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a round patty, about 1 inch thick.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes until fully cooked (internal temperature should reach 165°F/75°C).
  4. Toast the whole wheat buns in a separate skillet or on a grill for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun, drizzling with tzatziki sauce, and topping with the other half of the bun.
