Ingredients
– 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
– ½ teaspoon baking soda
– ½ teaspoon baking powder
– ¼ teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons activated charcoal powder (food-grade)
– ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
– ½ cup granulated sugar
– ½ cup brown sugar, packed
– 1 large egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 tablespoon milk (or more if needed)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and activated charcoal powder. Set aside.
3. Cream Butter and Sugars:
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together using an electric mixer or hand whisk. Beat until the mixture is light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
4. Add Wet Ingredients:
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture. Beat until fully combined.
5. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix until the dough starts to come together. If the dough feels too dry, add a tablespoon of milk at a time until the dough is soft and slightly sticky, but not too wet.
6. Shape the Dough:
Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You can lightly flatten them with the back of a spoon or your fingers if you prefer a slightly flatter cookie.
7. Bake:
Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges start to turn golden. The center should still be soft but set.
8. Cool and Enjoy:
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your grey colored cookies!
