  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
  5. Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  6. Pour the batter into prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  10. Once cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread whipped cream on top.
  11. Top with the second layer and frost the top and sides with remaining cream.
  12. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
