Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  8. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
