Description
Traditional Irish brown soda bread made with whole wheat flour.
Ingredients

- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Make a well in the center and pour in buttermilk and honey.
- Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead gently on a floured surface for a minute.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf.
- Place on a baking sheet and cut a cross on top.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- Store bread in a cloth to keep it fresh.
- Best served warm with butter.
- Can add seeds for extra texture.
