Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. Add water and cook over medium heat until thickened.
  4. Stir in egg yolks, lemon juice, lemon zest, and butter.
  5. Pour filling into the pie crust.
  6. In a bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  7. Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  8. Spread meringue over the pie filling.
  9. Bake for 10-15 minutes until meringue is lightly browned.
