Ingredients

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice (for icing)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add melted butter, eggs, lemon zest, lemon juice, and the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle and sprinkle with sugar and lemon zest.
- Roll it tightly and cut into slices.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
- Mix powdered sugar and lemon juice to create icing and drizzle over cooled rolls.
Notes
- For extra lemon flavor, add more lemon zest.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
