Description
Mashed cauliflower with sour cream is a creamy alternative to traditional mashed potatoes, combining the subtle flavor of cauliflower with the rich taste of sour cream.
Ingredients
- Cauliflower: 1 large head (about 2 pounds)
- Sour cream: 1 cup
- Butter: 4 tablespoons (unsalted)
- Garlic: 4 cloves (minced)
- Salt: 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (for roasting garlic)
Instructions
- Prepare the cauliflower by removing leaves and stem, cutting it into smaller florets, and rinsing under cold water.
- Cook the cauliflower in boiling salted water for about 10-12 minutes until tender, then drain and let sit to release moisture.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the drained cauliflower with roasted garlic, butter, and a pinch of salt and pepper, then mash or blend to desired consistency.
- Stir in the sour cream until well combined, adjusting seasoning to taste.
- Transfer to a serving dish, garnish if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Choose fresh, firm cauliflower for the best results.
- Adjust the consistency by adding more sour cream or milk if desired.
- Consider adding cheese or fresh herbs for extra flavor.
