- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate shavings for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in vanilla extract.
- Spread the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 1 hour or until firm.
- Remove from oven and let it cool completely.
- Whip heavy cream and cocoa powder until soft peaks form.
- Spread the whipped cream over the cooled meringue.
- Roll the meringue tightly from one end to create a log shape.
- Dust with chocolate shavings for decoration.
