Mujadara is a flavorful dish made with lentils, rice, and caramelized onions.
Ingredients

- 1 cup lentils
- 1 cup rice
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 4 cups water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils and rice separately under cold water.
- In a pot, heat olive oil and sauté the onions until caramelized.
- Add lentils and water to the pot, bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add rice, cumin, and salt, stir well.
- Cover and cook until rice is tender, about 20 minutes.
- Serve warm, topped with caramelized onions.
Notes
- Adjust spices to taste.
- You can add more water if needed for desired consistency.
- Serve with yogurt or salad for a complete meal.
