Description

Ingredients

  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 200g black treacle
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 100g sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease a 20cm round cake tin.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the black treacle.
  6. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared tin.
  9. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • Serve warm with custard or cream.
