Old fashioned stuffed cabbage rolls filled with meat and rice.


Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Remove the core from the cabbage and blanch the leaves for 2-3 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix ground beef, cooked rice, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Take a cabbage leaf and place a spoonful of the meat mixture at the base.
  5. Fold the sides over the filling and roll tightly.
  6. Repeat with remaining leaves and filling.
  7. In a baking dish, spread some tomato sauce on the bottom.
  8. Place the cabbage rolls seam side down in the dish.
  9. Pour the remaining tomato sauce over the rolls.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.

Notes

  • Use large cabbage leaves for easy rolling.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
