Description
Potthucke is a traditional German potato cake made with grated potatoes, onions, and bacon.
Ingredients

- 2 cups grated potatoes
- 1 cup grated onions
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons oil for frying
Instructions
- Grate the potatoes and onions into a bowl.
- Add the chopped bacon, eggs, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
- Scoop the mixture into the pan, forming small cakes.
- Fry for about 5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove from pan and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, omit bacon.
- Serve with applesauce or sour cream.
