Ingredients

  • 200g self-raising flour
  • 100g dark brown sugar
  • 100g unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 150ml whole milk
  • 100g golden syrup
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Grease a cake pan.
  3. In a bowl, cream the butter and dark brown sugar together.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  5. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  6. In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  9. Drizzle golden syrup over the top.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
