Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse the lentils under cold water.
  2. In a pot, combine lentils and water. Bring to a boil, then simmer until lentils are soft.
  3. Drain any excess water and let lentils cool.
  4. In a pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  5. In a bowl, combine lentils, sautéed onion, grated carrot, spices, parsley, and breadcrumbs.
  6. Form mixture into patties.
  7. Heat oil in a pan and fry patties until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Drain on paper towels before serving.
