Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt for sprinkling
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Add flour and salt to the mixture. Knead until smooth.
  4. Let dough rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Cut dough into small pieces and roll into balls.
  6. Boil water with baking soda. Dip each ball in the water for 30 seconds.
  7. Place on a baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. For the cheese dip, melt cheddar and cream cheese with milk in a saucepan.
  10. Serve pretzel bites warm with cheese dip.
