Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat and set aside to cool.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter, mixing until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add sourdough starter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the sugar-butter mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl, then fold into the wet ingredients until fully incorporated.
  5. Optionally, fold in chocolate chips or nuts for added texture.
  6. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the dish and spread it evenly.
