- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until soft.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, sautéed onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Place a small amount of filling in each cabbage leaf and roll tightly.
- In a baking dish, layer the bottom with some tomato sauce.
- Arrange cabbage rolls seam side down in the dish and top with remaining tomato sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
Notes
- Use leftover rice for quicker preparation.
- Add herbs like dill or parsley for extra flavor.
- Serve with sour cream for garnish.
