Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix flour, butter, and powdered sugar in a bowl.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan, combine milk, cream, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks.
- Heat over medium, stirring until it thickens.
- Add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Pour the custard over the baked crust.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

- Chill the squares for a firmer texture.
- Top with whipped cream if desired.
