A simple and nutritious yellow lentil dal recipe.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup yellow lentils
- 4 cups water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse the yellow lentils under cold water.
- In a pot, heat oil and add cumin seeds.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden.
- Add garlic and tomatoes, cook until soft.
- Add turmeric and lentils, stir well.
- Pour in water and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes until lentils are soft.
- Add salt to taste.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
Notes
- Adjust water for desired consistency.
- Serve with rice or naan.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
