Delicious and festive cookies shaped like candy canes.
Ingredients

- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- red food coloring
- granulated sugar for coating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar.
- Add egg, vanilla, and peppermint extract to the butter mixture.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
- Divide the dough in half. Color one half with red food coloring.
- For each cookie, take a small piece of each color, roll into ropes, and twist together.
- Shape into a candy cane.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Cool on a wire rack.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container.
- You can adjust the peppermint flavor to your taste.
- Use crushed candy canes for decoration if desired.
