Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix cornstarch and flour. Dredge chicken pieces in the mixture.
  2. Dip the coated chicken in the beaten egg.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry chicken until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  6. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with rice or noodles.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
  • For extra flavor, marinate chicken in soy sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.
